Meydenbauer Bay Park
Downtown Bellevue's Lake Washington waterfront park, reopened in 2019 with a sandy beach, curved pier and beach house.
Meydenbauer Bay Park is a waterfront park on Lake Washington at the foot of downtown Bellevue. The site was first established as a county park in the 1930s and absorbed into the City of Bellevue in 1953, making it one of the community's oldest parks and a long-standing point of public lake access.
Beginning in 1987 the city made acquiring the Meydenbauer Bay shoreline a central goal of its parks plan, purchasing 12 properties along the bay between 1992 and 2007. A major first phase of redevelopment opened on March 16, 2019, expanding the park to roughly seven improved acres west of 99th Avenue and connecting it to the adjacent Meydenbauer Bay Marina.
The reopened park features a large sandy swimming beach, a curved pier, a beach house with restrooms and showers, and about a quarter mile of restored waterfront, knitting the lakefront back into downtown via the surrounding street and trail network.
