Suburban residential neighborhood · Lake Hills
Lake Hills
A large postwar residential neighborhood in central-east Bellevue, built on former farmland and annexed to the city in 1969.
Lake Hills is a central-east Bellevue neighborhood that grew from one of the region's first large postwar planned residential developments. Like neighboring Crossroads, the area was farmland in the early 20th century, much of it worked by Japanese immigrant families until the internment of 1942, after which it was rapidly converted to suburban housing.
The neighborhood was annexed to Bellevue in 1969, one of several mid-century annexations that expanded the city eastward across the plateau. It remains a predominantly single-family residential area with established mid-century homes, schools, and parks.
Lake Hills sits north of the Lake Hills Greenbelt, a wetland and trail corridor connecting Larsen Lake and Phantom Lake, which preserves a piece of the area's agricultural past with blueberry fields still farmed near the trail. The greenbelt gives the otherwise suburban neighborhood a notable natural amenity.
