Affluent residential neighborhood · West Bellevue
West Bellevue
A prestigious residential neighborhood area along Lake Washington west of downtown, encompassing Meydenbauer Bay and Old Bellevue.
West Bellevue is an official neighborhood area covering the lakeside lands west and south of downtown along Lake Washington and Meydenbauer Bay. It contains some of the city's most prestigious residential streets along with the historic Main Street district known as Old Bellevue.
Meydenbauer Bay, where Seattle baker William Meydenbauer staked his 1860s claim, anchors the neighborhood's waterfront; the redeveloped Meydenbauer Bay Park reconnected the city to its shoreline with a beach, pier, and trails. The neighborhood also includes smaller associations such as Surrey Downs and Bellecrest.
Bordering the affluent enclaves of Beaux Arts Village and Clyde Hill, West Bellevue blends waterfront estates, established single-family homes, and the walkable Old Bellevue retail core, making it one of the city's most desirable and historically significant areas.
